OK you have made your mind up to start a home-based business?
You could well be juggling your time between your home business and a full time job and your family. There realy are a raft of tasks you need to set in motion in order to successfully start your own business and work from home. The big question is how on earth are you going to fit your home business project into your current daily schedule? It's very easy to become overwhelmed by this, lose focus and eventually interest. When you lose focus all that happens you to take no action. If you take no action than you are not going to move on from where you are currently, to where you eventually want to be.
Here are 5 top tips to help you stay focused when starting your home based business:
1. BREAK EVERYTHING DOWN.
If you have a REALLY large task to tackle, and there'll be a few of these, make it easier for yourself by breaking it down into smaller jobs. It's MUCH easier to focus on smaller jobs because you don't feel overwhelmed. For example, 'Registering your business name' can easily be broken down into: 'Think of four business name ideas', 'Discover how to register the name of my home business', 'Go and get the registration form' etc.
2. ALWAYS KEEP A TO DO LIST.
As soon as you have broken down some major jobs into smaller ones it's time to create and keep a 'to do' list. In this computer age here's a really good tip. Get a shortcut to 'Notepad' either on your desktop or in your quickstart menu. Just right click the program in your programs list under acessories and click send to desktop.
Quick access to this little program is essential for quckly jotting down notes and wil really help your home business.
3. SCHEDULING YOUR TIME.
At the end of work evey day make time to decide on three to five tasks on your 'to do' list that you are determined to finish the following day. Always stay focused on these jobs and only move on to further tasks on your 'to do' list once these are finished.
Your Home business will really move on apace by sticking tothis.
4. SET YOURSELF GOALS.
Nothing will help you more in your hme business than staying focused than setting yourself goals. You need to Visualize exactly where you want to be up to in a month, six months and then a year. For exampe, In a month's time, do you want to have registered a business name and got all your tools, whatever they are, set up? In six months time, detemine how many clients you should have and what your income level should be. Whereabouts will your revenue figures be in a years time?
5. DON'T LISTEN TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY.
Unless you are very lucky you won't get much encouragement from your friends and family. They will constantly pour cold water on your home business idea and doubt everything you dream is possible. In the main they don't want you to succeed because they like you just where you are, with them, doing the nine 'til five and struggling to pay your bills every month.
